’The sticks (walkie-talkies) appeared after I woke up one day with an aching knee. I made the silver one out of left-over materials found in the basement and out of my wish to take care of myself alone. For a day or two, I assumed my handicap, and the stick as a necessary luxury.

Later on, I started thinking of the myth of the teacher - when they can’t do the strong walk, they teach others - so the walking stick becomes a new status indicator (with two opposite translations).’
